Japan’s legal panel may consider tighter rules on how evidence is used in civil trials. The current Code of Civil Procedure does not prohibit parties from using evidence or confidential information for purposes unrelated to court proceedings. It also does not ban providing copies of such material to third parties, prompting discussion of possible restrictions.
