The European Court of Justice has made it possible to convict Vlaams Belang nonprofit Vrijheidsfonds in the case concerning the party’s IKEA plan. According to the ruling, freedom of expression does not necessarily outweigh IKEA’s interests, as the campaign could have caused significant reputational damage. The Belgian court must now issue the final ruling.
