On 1 January 2026 Belgium counted 11,867,634 inhabitants. One in five of them was 65 or older — for every 100 people of working age, there are now about 36 aged 65+. One in five was born outside Belgium. In Brussels it is closer to one in two. Flanders grew by 33,584 people during 2025. Wallonia grew by 8,460. Brussels gained 39. Not thousand — thirty-nine people, across the whole year.
