Global water resources are shrinking

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is warning that water resources are declining worldwide. River flows are falling, glaciers are losing volume and groundwater levels have been dropping for several years. In a report published Thursday, the organization described 2025 as one of the driest years observed in more than 30 years.
