David Vandyck: “We wouldn’t make ends meet without my wife’s income”

David Vandyck, 48, is celebrating 20 years as a singer, but the anniversary is marked by grief. His mother died of lung cancer at 47 and never saw him perform. At milestones, he thinks she should have been there. Vandyck performs 150 times a year, but says the family could not make ends meet without his wife’s income.
