Fatal fire at French holiday home: owner to stand trial

A fire at a holiday home for people with disabilities in Wintzenheim, near Colmar, killed 11 people on 9 August 2023. The Paris public prosecutor’s office suspects that a burning candle belonging to a deceased caregiver caused the fire. Nevertheless, it wants to bring the owner before the criminal court. The prosecutor’s office is leading the further investigation.
