Hanne Vandewinkel falls in first round after squandering match point

Hanne Vandewinkel suffered a bitter first-round defeat at the US Open. The Belgian tennis player let a sizeable lead and a match point slip away against a former world No. 1, who went on to win. Vandewinkel’s tournament is therefore over, while the US Open continues with the remaining first-round matches.
