HIV infections soar in Fiji, government declares state of emergency

Fiji is facing an acute HIV crisis, with infections rising sharply, according to the government. The government has therefore declared a national state of emergency across the island nation. An estimated one in 60 adults in Fiji is living with HIV, an exceptionally high prevalence. The measure follows the recent spike.
