Federico Higuain fired for sexist remarks toward female referee

Columbus Crew fired coach Federico Higuain after sexist remarks aimed at a female referee during a reserve-team match. The MLS club announced the decision Wednesday. Higuain had said, among other things, that football was “a men’s sport,” a statement deemed incompatible with his responsibilities at the club.
