Police thwart attack on Canadian synagogue; attacker dies after shootout

Police in Belleville, Ontario, foiled an attack on a synagogue. Chief Murray Rodd said two officers had prevented an “unthinkable tragedy.” The attacker was shot during a shootout and later died in hospital.
