VRT faces steep cuts: less exclusivity, more Flemish programmes

The Flemish Government is requiring VRT to make additional savings after a difficult budget exercise. The public broadcaster will receive €3.4 million less in 2027, with the reduction rising to €7 million by 2029, on top of the non-indexation of its operating funds. The cuts come with content choices: less exclusivity, more Flemish programmes and more frequently shared sports rights.
