Ghent baffled by Flemish cut to job support for welfare recipients

Ghent calls the Flemish cut to job guidance for welfare recipients at its public welfare centre incomprehensible. The city is losing €2.1 million in funding. Flanders says the measure does not lead enough people into paid work, but Ghent and the association of cities and municipalities dispute this. Alderman Astrid De Bruycker says nearly 800 welfare recipients moved into jobs, while the need for guidance is growing.
