‘Free matcha’: Duckweed in Ghent waterways featured on BBC

Images of Ghent waterways covered in duckweed have been featured by the BBC. The plant arrived in Ghent’s waterways several weeks ago via the River Leie from France. The British public broadcaster highlighted Ghent’s striking green water, locally nicknamed ‘free matcha’ because of its appearance.
