European Parliament divided over what “Made in Europe” really means

Divisions are growing in the European Parliament over the meaning of the “Made in Europe” label. The European People’s Party (EPP) opposes a plan by socialists, liberals and Greens to give European industry more protectionist preferential treatment. The proposal goes further than the approach put forward by the European Commission, widening the political divide in the negotiations.
