Apple unveils foldable iPhone

Apple has introduced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone. The device opens to a 7.6-inch inner display and has a 5.4-inch outer screen when closed. It is powered by the A20 Pro chip and runs iOS 27.

Design and features

The iPhone Duo uses a titanium enclosure, a precision hinge and an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance. Its camera system combines two 48-megapixel cameras, while the foldable design enables features such as previewing photos on the outer display and using the phone for hands-free video calls.

Apple has also added split-screen multitasking and new AI capabilities through Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Siri AI will launch in beta with iOS 27, although Apple says it will not initially be available on iOS in the European Union.

Pricing and availability

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. It will be available in star white and night sky.

Pre-orders open on October 16, with sales beginning on October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions. Apple says the device will launch in 28 additional countries and regions on October 30.
