House of Orange backed colonial policy for centuries—and profited from it

Research in the Netherlands concludes that the House of Orange supported colonialism for centuries and earned substantial income from it. At the same time, its influence on specific colonial decision-making was relatively limited. King Willem-Alexander says he was deeply moved by the report. He says he cannot change the past, but can contribute to the future.
