Plan to expand Champagne appellation area is definitively shelved

The General Union of Champagne Winegrowers (SGV) has definitively abandoned its plan to expand the territory covered by the Champagne AOC. The organization says current conditions are no longer favorable to the initiative. It cites climate change, economic uncertainty and declining consumption as the main factors behind the decision.
